    • uncheck the box Match IP

    • click Check Connection to find out if WM Recorder programs can access the Internet

    • if adapters are listed click the adapter name to run a test

    • click Troubleshoot for more details on this issue

  • The recorder was not active when you start playing the content. To enable URL capturing you need to refresh the web page and click the link again.

  • WM Recorder files interface.exe, wmrecorder.exe and wmrurl.exe are blocked by your security program

WMX mode – AUTO recording doesn’t start

  • The content was previously played and cached by the browser – clear the browser cache or use WM Capture

  • If you have Vista/Win7 and don’t use Internet Explorer browser open OPTIONS and click “Associate browser” to uncheck this option. Close all browser windows before restarting WM Recorder.

  • If you have Vista/Win7 and you’re using Internet Explorer browser close all opened browser windows thenclick OPTIONS/Select recording browser and double click to open Internet Explorer.

  • The recorder was not active when you start playing the content. To enable URL capturing you need to refresh the web page and click the link again.

  • WM Recorder files wmrecorder.exe and wmrurl.exe are blocked by your security program

PRO mode – AUTO recording doesn’t start

  • The file is not a specific Windows Media or Real Player file. For example MPEG files (mp3, mpg), QuickTime/iPod files, FLV files. No fix is available unless the ADA mode is operational.

Recording status shows CANCELED

  • Your Internet Security software blocks some of WM Recorder components to access the Internet – click OPTIONS /More…/ Check Internet Connection to check if these programs are blocked.

  • The URL is not valid, points to a server/file that doesn’t exist, has been discontinued – copy the URL, open the Media Player compatible with the file format (Windows Media, Real Player, Quick Time), find the Open URL option, paste the URL and click OK to play. This doesn’t apply to Adobe Flash links. Adobe does not provide a media player that can play videos from a given URL.

  • Some web sites change the URLs immediately after the content begins playing. In this case the captured / saved URL has no use. For Flash streams use the program LOOPBACK included in WM Recorder package. For Windows Media streams switch to PRO – AUTO ON mode.

 Invalid URL message

  • This message is shown when you click the RECORD button on the main screen with an invalid or no URL displayed in the URL box. This button can be used ONLY if a valid Internet address (URL) is shown here. The URL could be either a captured URL or a manually entered URL.

Recording time smaller than play time

  • The recording time (Download/Stream Time) shown in the recording window is equal to the play time only for streamed files (files broadcasted at the same speed as the content bitrate). Otherwise this number can be smaller or much smaller than the actual play time.

 Flash RTMP

URL not captured recording doesn’t start

  • DRM encrypted stream. Illegal to decrypt and download in US and other countries. Use the screen capture program WM Capture.

  • Use the program LOOPBACK included in WM Recorder Package

URL captured recording doesn’t start

  • URL no longer valid – WMR shows error. Try to play the stream again from the web site and recapture the new URL.

  • Use the program LOOPBACK included in WM Recorder Package.

  • WM Recorder shows “No data received”  – WM Recorder will reconnect. No solution at this time if no data after 2 or 3 re-connections. Use the program LOOPBACK included in WM Recorder Package.

Only a portion of a finite size (on demand) video is recorded

  • This may be a secure but not encrypted FLV stream. Use the program LOOPBACK included in WM Recorder Package.

  • FLV parsing problems – the Flash RTMP stream may have one or more unknown tags. Send us a web site name where we can duplicate the problem and provide a fix.

Live stream video is only partially recorded

  • This may be a secure but not encrypted FLV stream. Use the program LOOPBACK included in WM Recorder Package.

  • FLV parsing problems – the Flash RTMP stream may have one or more unknown tags. Send us a web site name where we can duplicate the problem and provide a fix.

Scheduled recording doesn’t work

  • Check the connection link in the scheduler window. The remote web site changed the connection link. Run WM Recorder in AUTO recording mode, reload the web site in your browser and recapture the connection link.

Windows Media Player

Recorded Windows Media video has playback, converting or splitting problems

Click SETTINGS/Media Options and check the box “Use WMSDK”.

Captured / Saved URL does not connect

  • Some web sites change the stream URL after you click the link in the web page. In this case the saved URL has no use – Switch to PRO – AUTO ON mode.

Recording password authenticated streams

  • Open Saved Links / Windows Media. Right click the URL and select Add/Change Password from the pop-up menu.

  • If the saved URL was changed by the web site (see above) the password cannot be added to the URL -Switch to PRO – AUTO ON mode then open  the browser  and go to the web site. Enter your password as required by the web site.

Only first video/audio in ASX playlist is recorded

All items in the playlist have the same URL – Switch to PRO – AUTO ON mode.

 Real Player

Only first video/audio in a playlist is recorded

  • The captured URL is a RAM or SLIM – Turn OFF the AUTO mode and replay the content. Click the RECORD button when the last URL is displayed.

  • The captured URL has a time stamp (usually ?start=…end=) – Use the Rename URL option to remove the time stamp (delete all text following the “?” including the question mark).
